User Defined Variables
Variables act as placeholders for text that might change in the future. Some examples where variables may be used are:
- Product Name
- Product version
- Product Tag line
- Company Name
- Company Address
- Phone numbers
- Sales & Support email addresses
Follow the instructions below to add a variable.
1. Open the Help System
2. If you are not already logged in, log in as an administrator with 'tools' permissions.
3. Click the 'Tools' button to display the tools menu.
4. Click 'Variables'
5. The 'Variables' list will be displayed. Click 'add' to create a new variable.
4. To modify the value of an existing user defined variable, simply click the text and type the new value.
5. To add a new user defined variable, simply type the variable name and variable value in a blank row.
6. Click 'Save' to save the variable.
7. Variables can be inserted into any page by either typing the variable name in square brackets (eg. admin) or selecting the variable from the 'Insert Variable' list.

| Varaibles can also contain html code which means that you can create reusable 'snippets' such as a 'price matrix'
