Creating a Virtual Directory A virtual directory must be created in order to run HelpConsole. On Windows XP and Windows 2003, the virtual directory is created automatically when the software is installed, however due to tightened security on Windows Vista, the virtual directory needs to be created manually. follow the steps below to create the virtual directory:
1. Select "Start > Control Panel"
2. Click 'Classic View' in the left pane
3. Double click 'Administrative tools'
4. Double click 'Internet Information Services'
5. Expand the left window until 'Default Web site' is visible.
6. Right click 'Default Web site' and select 'Add Application'
7. For alias, enter 'HelpConsole2008'.
8. For 'Physical path', specify the path that HelpConsole was installed to (usually 'c:\program files\HelpConsole 2008'). Click OK.
9. The virtual directory 'HelpConsole2008' should now be visible in the list.
